Every year, a lot of food that is still edible ends up in the bin. In Stuttgart alone, this amounts to around 80,000 tons a year, which is why the state capital of Stuttgart is now supporting concrete measures to save food - with a funding programme.

With the new funding guideline, the city wants to support the establishment of decentralized and public food fair distributors. Interested parties can now apply for city funding and set an example against food waste.

Applications can be submitted by organizations based in Stuttgart

  • recognized social, independent or church organizations,
  • associations, foundations, neighborhood networks and interest groups,
  • private individuals,
  • commercial enterprises and companies.

How much funding is available?

  • Up to 2,600 euros of the material costs per fair divider (one-off initial equipment, subject to the above conditions)
  • Up to 500 euros for the organization and promotion of an opening event
  • Up to 100 euros in operating costs (running costs such as electricity, water, waste disposal) per Fairteiler and year
  • 2 vouchers worth 100 euros each for RegioRadStuttgart per applicant and year

The maximum total funding per Fairteil is 3,500 euros.
